Critical Illness

How to make a claim

If you think you have grounds for a claim under the policy, ask your insurer for a claim form, which will require information about your condition, your treatment - and the doctors who treated you. The insurance company will then contact the doctors in order to gather more detailed information.

Sometimes, certain conditions must be fulfilled before your claim is agreed and you can receive payment. These may include:

  • The need for you to undergo further medical examinations
  • The requirement that the condition is permanent
  • The passing of sufficient time so that it can be proved that the condition is permanent or is not likely to improve. This period varies, but (particularly with plans that don't include life cover) is usually a month from when the illness was diagnosed
